Lee and Lauren Saalfeld have recently gone to Bogota, Colombia where they will be spending the next few months sharing the Gospel in local churches as well as making trips into the Amazon jungle. We recently received the following update from them and wanted to share it with you:

We greet you in the mighty name of Jesus from Bogota!

We arrived very early on July 20 and got settled into our apartment. 

In the first 11 days in country, we have had 8 meetings with Pastors and have scheduled services for Divine Healing, Holy Spirit, Ladies’ Services, Evangelistic Campaigns, and Leadership Training. 

Lee met with Pastor Carlos Abril from the Colombian Bible League, where we have purchased many Bibles. And then Lee met a divine connection—an indigenous Pastor from the jungle.  From September 14 - 17, Lee will enter Vichada, Colombia, with a team. Below is some information about Vichada.

Vichada is located in the eastern plains of Colombia, in the Orinoquía Region within the Orinoco river basin, bordering the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Vichada is home to over a dozen distinct indigenous ethnic groups—including the Sikuani, Piapoco, Guajibo, and Puinave. For many of these communities, Christianity is not practiced in isolation but is blended with ancestral beliefs. Because of Vichada's remote location on the border, local Christian leaders and pastors face significant safety hurdles. In isolated areas where illegal armed groups operate, local churches often stand as the primary community centers, defending youth against forced recruitment into criminal networks.

But this trip is just the first… In January, Lee will enter with a team to go to the unreached people groups he learned about through the Desana project. Here is some information about these people groups:

The Desana (also spelled Desano or Umukomasã) are an indigenous ethnic group native to the Amazonian rainforest. They primarily live along the Vaupés River basin and its tributaries, straddling the border between southeastern Colombia (in the Vaupés, Guaviare, and Guainía departments) and northwestern Brazil.

Please keep these jungle adventures for Lee in your prayers—for many salvations and for safe travel—as the Desana trip involves planes, boats, and walking.

 •           That every meeting and service bring Glory to our Lord

 •           That many people will receive Jesus in our services

 •           No confusion from the enemy

 •           For our health to remain strong

 •           For our upcoming trip to Brazil in October
